Saturday 10/31

Busy day today! Babysat little Samuel this morning while the other two went to their respective activities. Eleanor to tumbling and Alexander to jiu jitsu. He came to our house this time as we were expecting a delivery of firewood and I knew he would love to see the big dump truck come and drop it on the driveway. Unfortunately he had to go home before it got here. Then TJ our some and Alexander came to help Papa haul the face cord of wood from the driveway around to the back deck to be put on the wood rack. Papa gave Alexander 10.00 for helping and I think he was pretty excited! He picked up every piece of wood and handed it to Papa to be stacked! Later in the I made two recipes of homemade apple cider donuts for neighbors and us when we were out handing out trick or treat candy tonight. They were very good if I do say so myself! We moved the firepit to the front driveway and had a bonfire. After the kids trick or treated their own neighborhood they came over and we had hot dogs cooked outside and mac and cheese. I also cut up a big plate of all differnt fruits in the hopes they would snack on that a bit. Seemed to work as the plate came back in empty! They trick or treated out neighborhood and then I brought Sam in and gave him a bath while the two older kids went back out again. It was a good day and though it was very windy at least it was warmer than the snowy Halloween we had last year!

Thursday 10/29 Kind of chilly today but a little sun off and on. Nice as it has been gloomy as can be here lately. Ran to the store to get a few things for dinner which ended up being roasted butternut squash soup. It was a bit putzy to make but was actually pretty good. Maybe needed a little zing.

Wednesday 10/28/20

Well another day has come and gone. Babysat the Grandkids this morning so my son and daughter in law could go out to breakfast. I try to do this every Wednesday that I can so they can spend a bit of time together. It's pretty easy duty. This morning I took the two little ones outside as my oldest Grandson was doing his remote or online school. He is in second grade and loves school so he is very sad. He went back for one week (last week) for three days before the covid numbers became so high again that the County recommended they go back to remote. It is really too bad for these kids. No real school since March. They do continue to have other activities that they can do and we see them a lot. Since March we had always seen them multiple times a week so we decided right away to quarantine between the two households. So far we have had no one become ill. Other activities of the day included doing some knitting and going to get Halloween candy for Saturday. For dinner it was a homemade chicken pot pie that I made yesterday and we didn't eat as my husband ended up missing dinner while running around trying to get my smart phone fixed for me. No other news that is good...the stock market is terrible, COVID is horrible and weather is gloomy again this afternoon!

Sunday 10/25/20

Nice quiet Sunday here today. Yesterday was pretty busy. Babysat for littlest Grandson Samuel in the morning so his parents could go on their respective ways taking his two older sibs to their Saturday morning ativities. Not exactly sure what those are during these times. I know they were doing tumbling and jiu jitsu before COVID but not sure which is actually still going on. I know they had no activities for quite some time. Anyway...then home to mow and bag the leaves and grass for hopefully the last time before it gets really cold although it was pretty chilly out there doing it. I love to mow but bagging is another matter...I always manage to get more grass on the ground than in the bag! Came in and cleaned up and it was time for church. Early to bed for me as I was feeling a bit puny. Today was much quieter. I did work outside cleaning up a bit. Cut down and bagged all the vines from our great pumpkin growning experiment and cut down my zinnia patch. Sad to see the end of those. Have enjoyed having cut flowers for a change. Then had steakes cooked on the grill. Yum! Made au grating potatoes, broccoli and fruit salad to go with it. Had our neighbor who is a widow over for dinner with us and it was GOOD if I do say so myself. Had a nice fire in the fireplace and watching the world series. Really don't care about it since the CUBS are out but nothing else on anyway. TTFN>
